$10.00 Daoist Three Treasures and Qi Flow for Martial Artists

In the Daoist framework of internal alchemy or medicine for well-being, a human being possesses three treasures: Jing, Qi, Shen. Jing is the physical body associated with lower dantian, residing in the middle of the abdomen; Qi is the subtle substance associated with middle dantian residing near the heart; and Shen is the spirit associated with upper dantian, residing in the place behind the middle of the eyebrows.  A healthy, well-balanced, and intelligent human being inherently links all three.  The three treasures are inseparable, inter-penetrated, and inter-transformational. Aspiring martial artists who only train their body are not able to realize their full potential even though they are disciplined, honest, and compassionate.   Obstacles or even injuries could occur when proper Qi flow is ignored. Qi is a vital force that fills the universe and runs through our entire body.  Tai Chi, Qigong, and meditation are well established tools that train Qi.  Known as the “meditation in motion,” Tai Chi is performed slowly and smoothly with graceful Qi flow.  Qigong works directly on Qi, connecting and cultivating source energy with our postnatal energy.  Meditation of any kind enhances Qi as well.  “Be like water my friend,” we remember Bruce Lee's powerful words.  Water is like Qi, shapeless and formless.  It could be argued that Bruce Lee may not have executed his one-inch punch so well if he had not been trained in Qi manipulation.

This workshop demystifies Qi, introduces Daoist three treasures and Yin Yang principle, and offers an introduction to Qigong.  Students learn to sense their Qi with their hands, strengthen their Qi flow through energy channels or meridians, and project Qi externally.  Students also experiment integrating Qi flow into their regular martial movements. They will become more aware of themselves and their movements as well as others as Qi connects us all.  Qi awareness together with the Yin Yang principle will teach them to take a more balanced approach to hard core physical training to prevent injuries and foster well-rounded development. With more practice, not only will the students' movements become nimbler, but they will also gain a deeper sense of calm, balance, and well-being.
